Lesson and music

OMEH — Online Music Education Hub, created by Ben Millington. The lesson follows the classroom Ode to Joy worksheet supplied by Ben. The original melody is by Ludwig van Beethoven. Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star uses the traditional melody. The expanded library follows the supplied Learn to play the keyboard booklet. The five-finger exercise and ascending C major scale use an OMEH practice rhythm. Chopsticks teaches the booklet’s Part 1, with suggested fingers; Heart and Soul teaches the booklet’s classroom melody. The course transcriptions, lesson instructions, interface, model recordings and original accompaniments were prepared for OMEH.

Heart and Soul was composed by Hoagy Carmichael; see the publisher credit. Chopsticks is associated with Euphemia Allen, who published under Arthur de Lulli; see the Morgan Library catalogue. Other added song cards use the traditional melody credits of this teaching collection.

The two-hand Heart and Soul accompaniment follows both staves of Part 2 on page 67 of the supplied keyboard booklet. Fingerings are OMEH teaching suggestions. First Pop Performance is an original 24-bar OMEH study with an intro, verse, chorus and ending. It does not reproduce a named modern pop song.

Song artwork

The Beethoven portrait is by Joseph Karl Stieler (1820), from Wikimedia Commons, where it is identified as public domain. It shows the composer holding the Missa solemnis manuscript. The portrait represents the composer; that manuscript is a different work from Ode to Joy.

The piano-and-stars artwork for Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is an original AI-generated illustration created for OMEH. It is a song illustration, not a historical picture or a diagram of how to play. The lesson icons and illustrated lesson covers are original SVG artwork created for OMEH. The covers suggest each song’s theme; they are not instructional diagrams or historical portraits.

Recorded piano

Piano recordings from the tonejs-instruments collection, compiled and edited by Nicholaus P. Brosowsky. That collection identifies Versilian Studios' VSCO Community library as the piano source. Samples are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0; see the bundled licence. The selected MP3 samples are unmodified. Playback changes pitch, gain and reverb. The downloadable model and backing recordings mix these samples with a new OMEH accompaniment and synthesized percussion.

Notation and fonts

The treble-clef, bass-clef and rest outlines are from Steinberg's Bravura, licensed under the SIL Open Font License. The full notice is embedded in the clef and every rest SVG asset. Noto Sans is used under its SIL Open Font License. The live notation renderer is original code.

The optional note-colour guide follows the approximate C–B colours in the supplied booklet. Colours are a reading aid; note position, names and fingering are also available.

Privacy and progress

Practice progress saves in this browser. MIDI notes are processed on this device; the site does not record microphone audio. Certificate approval uses a temporary server session. The student's name is used to create the PDF and is not saved as a student record by this module.

The certificate server temporarily keeps failed-attempt counts using a hashed network identifier to protect teacher approval. This resource does not include accounts, a central class tracker or a payment system.
